I submitted my application online and was called within a couple of days to be asked to come in for an interview. I arrived and was brought to the back area (called TSC - no idea what that means) and asked to wait (I was a little early, so not surprising.) The back area was great, there's a big bank of lockers to keep your stuff in, huge break room, etc. Information was up on bulletin boards for just about everything you would ever need - schedules, time off sheets, swap shifts sheets, safety and sales goals, you name it. All the managers I met were great people. First a Team Leader came and got me and brought me into the back offices. She checked over my application information and confirmed it. I let her know my availability that I originally had put as open had changed just that week because I enrolled in school full time. She said that wasn't a problem since they have flexible scheduling and i was only looking for part time. She asked me four questions - The first one was "Why do you want to work at Target?" I told her I've shopped there myself for a number of years, I love the brand, I love the presentation of the store, I love the attention to display design, and I absolutely love their commitment to community giving. (This shows I did my research about the company and that I am passionate about it.) One other one I remember was, "If I contacted your previous manager, what do you think they would say were your strengths? Your weaknesses?" On the weaknesses question, try to put it in a positive light. Tell the truth, of course - I told her that my weakness when I worked at Sbux was that I would take on more than my barista duties sometimes without being asked, even though they weren't my responsibility because I knew the shift sup didn't have the time and it needed to be finished. In the end makes me look good and shows that I know how to budget my time wisely to get things done, but does show that I am aware of how important it is to stick to the deployment chart. After those questions, she let me know I had passed the first round and she brought me back out to the waiting area to wait for an Executive Team Leader to interview me. He brought me in and asked me the same question about why I wanted to work there, and then some different questions. Four total like the first time. The only other one I remember is, "Tell me about a time you partnered up to get something done, what was it and what was the outcome of your efforts?" I related my story about starting the Relay For Life here in my home town, because from my research I found the company is very active in community involvement.(like I mentioned in why I wanted to work there) and I wanted to show my passion and leadership skills. I told him how I was part of the Committee the first year as Online Chair, dealing with team registration and donations, and how our event was so successful we won Rookie of the Year from the ACS. This was all completely true, as your answers should be. Pick things that showcase you and make sense from a perspective of the company. After that interview, he told me straight off the bat that he loved my energy and that I would be a definite great fit for the company, and offered me the position on the spot contingent on a drug test. I accepted, and he brought me out and gave me some assessments to fill out . They were kind of like what you take on the online application, but this one had some basic math problems and some dealing with reading charts and such. After that was done, he gave me paperwork with the hourly rate offer (minimum wage for CT) and the papers regarding the drug screen and orientation requirements. You have to take the drug test within 24 hours (it doesn't cost you anything and they'll tell you where to go, and results are sent directly to them. Bring your license.) He told me they would call me for my orientation start date once the test came back clean (which I had no doubt of.) He said I would need to wear red & khaki (but what I like is that they don't care what style of red shirt, it seems) and to bring my license and either my soc sec card or my birth certificate (two forms of ID total). So that was all on Thursday, including the drug screen. They called me today, Friday, let me know it came back negative and I am clear for orientation Thursday. They reiterated the dress and ID reqs, congratulated me, and welcomed me to the team.
