      Sales Associate Interview

      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Temecula, CA
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Buckle (Temecula, CA) in May 2009

      Interview

After applying online, I was called and asked to come in for an interview with the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager. I got to the interview about 10 minutes early and was informed that they had tried to contact me, but they moved my interview back an hour because the Store Manager was still out to lunch. Trying to remain positive, I said that I would be back and began looking through other stores in the mall. After an hour, I went back to the store, where I had a 15 minute interview with the Store Manager in the jean section of the store. Really? I know that the Store Managers are very busy, important people, but other customers were shopping around us and the interview was interrupted several times. As the interview closed, the Store Manager informed me that she would be calling me before the end of the week (the interview was on a Tuesday) and let me know either way: if I received the job or not. Two weeks went by and I had left two weeks requesting a call from the Store Manager -- I usually would not follow up like this, but I really liked Buckle and was interesting in working there. In the meantime, I applied several other places and found an organization (that I am still currently working for) and have been promoted to a position in the management team. Almost four weeks after I had applied at Buckle, the manager called me and said that she wanted me to be a part of her team. I almost laughed on the phone. Why would I want to come onto a team where people are not valued enough to receive a timely return phone call?

      Interview

Super quick and easy. The woman who interviews me was very kind and understanding to it being my first retail job. I was offered a job on the spot and was able to ask any lingering questions I had about the role and profession.

      Interview

Very simple. No behaviour questions. It was basically all about me. We talked about hobbies, availability, college plans. It was like a fun conversation and not a hard, daunting, scary interview.

      Interview

They bring you in to ask basic interview questions. Make sure you completely dress the part. I was told before the interview by an associate that I should wear clothes they sell there. She didn't go into detail but I take that as they won't hire you if you don't.
