Applied online, checked my email a couple hours later and had an email telling me to call the store to schedule an interview. Set it up for the next day.
Got there 15mins early and browsed the store a bit while I waited for the interviewer to help some customers. Interviewed on the sales floor, in the back. She asked the questions below, and some of the ones from other interview reviews on here, then asked if I had any questions. Told me she had a couple more interviews to do and that I'd hear within 48 hours, either by phone or email (I'm putting 'no' for 'did you get an offer?' until I find out). Sounded like she'd be calling my references/former supervisors, so make sure you give yours a heads-up.
"What's the dress code like, working here?"
As long as it looks like it would be sold at the store, it doesn't have to actually be from here, i.e. no logos from other stores. No restrictions on hair or tattoos as long as they won't offend anyone 4-90yo, piercings have to be "fashionable." (Not sure what they consider offensive as far as hair goes, but tattoos are easier to understand. Asked about the recent pastel/silver hair trend to get a better idea of whether or not unnatural hair colours are allowed and was told that it was okay, "as long as it goes with your sense of style." Score!)
"Why is the position empty?"
It's not but we always interview for new people whenever they apply. (Does this mean that positions are pretty much always a free-for-all?)
Based on what the interviewer was wearing, I probably would've been okay with the skirt I was originally planning to wear (draped, cut about mid-thigh on the high side), but I panicked a bit and ended up wearing pants (not wide-legged/bootcut dress pants) instead with a nice shirt, lita boots, hair up and not too much makeup.
