I applied online and got a call from the manager who left me a voicemail message. She told me to call her back the next day, when I called she told me she would call me back because it was very busy at the moment in the store. When she called me back we had a mini interview through the phone that consisted of questions like "are you still looking for a job," "what pay do you expect," "what is your availability like and what is your schedule?" We then scheduled an interview for the next day. I wore a white dress shirt with a black skirt and comfortable heals (it was really a dress those that look like a shirt attached to a skirt) with a business styled blazer. I got asked questions like "why is it important to keep the stock room and sales floor organized," "how will you keep up with your work and be available to customers at the same time," "and, what was your best shopping experience?" I then got offered the job right on the spot and was told the dress code and that they pay would be $7.50 for starters. I was told that I fit the criteria even though I did not have any experience in retail. My advice would be to do as much research on websites like this one (glassdoor) and find out what questions are asked in interviews and what the expected answer should be; this way you are prepared in knowing how to respond and you familiarize yourself with the job even before you are hired. DO YOUR RESEARCH! =)
