I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Home Depot in Dec 2013
Interview
Applied online to as many stores as i could for as many positions as i could, my mistake. I got placed at a home depot 30 minutes away from where i live :/ oh well. But a few days later i got an email then a phone call interview then another email telling me to come to the store to get interviewed. Once i got there i waited then i met with the assistant manager who interviewed me. Questions were read of a sheet of paper and sounded generic enough. Also followed by some small talk and questions about availibility and experience. The questions he asks mainly have to deal with customers and situations... One tip for these questions is to just remember the customer is first, bend over backwards and drop whatever your doing for them. The interview however was supposed to be for a sales associate position but AFTER the interview was over he told me that position wasnt availible and he only had cashier jobs at the moment. So i took it. My mistake! Being a cashier is not for everyone, its fast paced at times then there will be times you wont get a customer for 3 straight hours. My advice to you is to decline any cashier postion they offer you, its less pay than a regular sales associate and more boring. Insist on anything that is not a cashier position. I accepted the cashier position on the spot and started training a week later

just a conversation with the HR team, asked the basic questions and nothing to stressful. they made the process very easy and the interview was actually truely with only one single person
5 minutes not even an interview just acceptance. I walked in and they said when can you start and if I can submit to a drug test and background check I said yes and left.

Interview
The interview process was a friendly and professional experience overall. The managers are nice and accommodating to students at least at this location as I was a current student at Oregon state university and needed to work around a college schedule.
