      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at The Knot Worldwide (Austin, TX) in Feb 2022

      Interview

I was initially contacted by one of the senior technical recruiters for TKWW through LinkedIn and was given some background on the position and the company. Since I already had a personal connection to the products and was generally interested, I scheduled a screening call with the recruiter to go over my background, what I was looking for in my next role, and what the overall interview process was like. Within a day or so (maybe even less than that!), she reached out to me again to set up some initial calls with the hiring manager, a director of product, and a director of design. Before I go into the interviews, here's the overall process: Step 1: Phone screen Step 2: Competency rounds consisting of 3 calls, one with the hiring manager, one with a product director, and one with a design director Step 3: Final interviews & whiteboard challenge. 1 call with an engineer & 1 call with a fellow designer. The whiteboard challenge was 1 hour & then they make their decision. On the call with the hiring manager, we went over my background & what I was doing in my current position & dove deeper into what I was looking for in my next role. I also was asked to review a case study on my portfolio that I was proud of & we did a mini thought challenge where I was given a light prompt and was shown a page from an e-commerce store. I was asked to talk through what I would change, what my initial hypotheses were as to why users were doing XYZ, etc. Was very casual and there was no right or wrong answer. Next I met with a product director and they asked a lot of situational questions (e.g tell me about a time when you had to...). Finally I met with a design director who went deeper into my background and asked to go through a case study. The next series of calls were half an hour and were with an engineer and designer, and after that was the final call which was a whiteboard challenge. Before the whiteboard session, I was sent a deck on how to prepare, what the team would be looking for, and what product the prompt would be centered around. In this challenge they really value you working & asking questions cross functionally with the product and engineering stakeholder. After this I had a wrap up call with the hiring manager and within a day or so was given an offer. Overall, this process was the best one I've ever had in my design experience. Everyone was very communicative, casual, understanding, and it was really smooth.

      Question 1

Tell me about a time where product suggested a design that you didn't agree with. How did you handle that?
      Answer question

      Question 2

How are you measuring success in your current role?
      Answer question

      Question 3

Do you have any experience with design systems and design system documentation?
      Answer question
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I interviewed at The Knot Worldwide (Barcelona)

      Interview

It was a 5 step process. Intro call with HR, call with Head of design, then Product Managers, and live whiteboard exercise. Overall, it was smooth. HR was misleading about the salary. In the end, I couldn’t trust it would suit my transparency needs.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at The Knot Worldwide in Feb 2026

      Interview

I went through a full interview process for a Senior Product Designer role that lasted approximately 8 weeks, from early February to early April. The process included 6 rounds: 1 Initial HR screening call 2 Video call with a Product Designer from the team 3 Design Deep Dive / App Review session 4 Portfolio Presentation to a panel of 4 team members 5 Cross-functional Collaboration interview with a Senior PM 6 Final session with the VP of Design The level of preparation required at each stage was significant — particularly the design challenge and the portfolio presentation. The interviewers were professional and the conversations were genuinely engaging. What I found disappointing: the response times between rounds were long and communication was minimal. After completing all 6 rounds, including a session with the VP of Design, the rejection feedback was limited to 'a very specific fit for the squad's current needs' — which tells a candidate nothing actionable after that level of investment. Candidates who reach the final round deserve feedback that's specific enough to be useful. A two-month process with six rounds asks a lot of people's time and energy. The least a company can offer in return is an honest explanation of why it didn't work out.

I had a good interview experience with TKWW. They were very responsive and professional. I first had a phone interview with the recruiter and then an online meeting with the director of product design. I didn't get the offer but the recruiter kindly provided me some feedback.
