      Automation Test Lead Interview

      Jul 27, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Pune
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Thoughtworks (Pune) in Jul 2019

      Interview

The requirement was for Pune however I appeared from Bangalore though zoom. The HR and the process was really nice I appeared for 2 rounds only: 1. telephoonic and 2. Code Pairing

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

1st Round : This round was taken by an experienced guy having 12+ years in QA. It was Telephonic Interview in which they touch base each and everything mentioned in the CV. It was Technical and techno-managerial kind of round They asked questions on java OOPs concepts, different kind of Test Automation frameworks, your project framework and how you have implemented OOPs concept in your framework. They love the Page Object Model in framework design. This round went for exactly 1 hour. The experience was good. 2nd Round was taken by a guy having 5 years experience only and I had a pathetic experience in this round. It was code-pairing round. There was one question to write a program : Get the count of pairs of strings in an array which has a different character in only one position.. Rule: All strings in array are of same length. Example: Input:array []={"abc",abd","bbd"} Output:2 Reason:{"abc","abd"}{"abd","bbd"} Another question was to write possible manual test cases of eCommerce website login page, checkout and placeorder page. In the programming round, the interviewer was too much interrupting while you are thinking of logic and try to implement logic. He was creating unnecessary pressure. I was able to write the program however couldn't complete in given time though i had explained the logic and everything. For the manual test cases when I started to explain the manual scenarios, he interrupted and said " these are only functional tests you are telling then i started telling all other types of testing and told about regression, sanity, smoke, usability and the discussion went on on lot things. the interviewer was giving assertive responses. Then i interested and asked if he really dosent want to know the mannual tests. Later i got call from HR telling that they cannot proceed with the candidature because the inteviewer gave the feedback that my code was not optimized. (When i already explained the logic which he also agreed to and if i couldn't complete the program because i reached late whic was again because thoughtworks didn't have proper 4 wheeler parking space which took my time. Also as if it was IIT entrance exam . I suggest thoughtworks should schedule interviews with experience guys not like 5 yr experience guy taking interview of 8.5 year person. Then he told that i couldn't explain UX testing. I wanted to tell him on his face that please have some revision on testing. UX testing and usability are same. He told i didnt tell him abt test strategy. Guys there is a huge difference in Test strategy and test case. i felt like laughing litterally and was feeling pathetic at the same time. I actually had no learning from this interview.
