TikTok's interview process is pretty standard by todays measures. It started with a recruiter phone screen, moved to an interview with an hiring manager, followed by a pitch and finally a meeting with an HR partner. They gave plenty of time (and materials) to prep but pitching during an interview to panel of subject matter experts is intense. Definitely do your research on the app, its value, functions, monetization etc. Every single person I interviewed with there was amazing which made me excited about the opportunity. The process was pretty smooth sailing until I got to what should have been the offer stage. Despite the fact that I received extremely positive feedback throughout the entire process I got to the end and they didn't have an open role for me. Obviously there are a lot of moving pieces during the hiring process but it felt like a lack of transparency on their part. I had a friend who had a similar experience a year ago but on a different team. I also read a few reviews that had similar sentiments - just the overall process being unorganized and a poor experience. I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews because this truly has felt like a waste of time.
