I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at TikTok in Jan 2022
Interview
Applied at the end of Nov. 2021, reached out around Dec. 20 2021, 1st round on Jan 2022, 2 medium lc problems. The interviewer seemed confused, taking me as an engineer intern. 2nd round was around 15d later, challenged with some system design problems but nothing about research! 3rd round was one week later, questioned by the team lead with some problems about research finally.
Then I was ghosted. After 2 weeks I emailed HR about any update, then a robotic reply told me I was refused.
The whole process was chaotic and recruiters showed no respect for candidates. Though I was hired at another country's TikTok branch, they showed no sympathy for their previous colleague.

Question 1
Have you ever done some research at your university?
Two rounds, each round for 1 hour, including code + basic ML questions + project. First round is with a senior research scientist, second round with leader. Project really matters.
one interview, first describe resume, then leetcode easy problem, I didn't get best solution. After time is ending, the interviewer told me correct best solution. I was rejected 2 days later.
There are two parts. In the first part, they asked me about my research. In the second part, I was asked to solve a coding problem using whatever language. The problem is around the medium leetcode level coding problems.
