I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TikTok (Singapore) in Aug 2022
Interview
Utterly unprofessional experience. Recruiters in tiktok had been reaching out to me multiple times over a year for roles. I finally decided to interview for the account manager position. I had 2 interviews in a day which were incredibly expedited due to my ‘good performance’. Then it went on to a total of 7 rounds of interview - some of which I had to meet with global teams and global leader so interviews at 9-10pm at night. Interviews are all behavioral and super easy. By the 7th round, the recruiter became really slow at replying and had to be chased multiple times. Then after the last interview they ghosted me. I only got a response when I added the hiring manager on LinkedIn and she said that the role had been cancelled due to some internal restructuring. Recruiter basically vanished and never replied nor updated me beyond ‘we will let u know soon’. Incredibly, unbelievably unprofessional - you could’ve stopped the interview process at 4-5th round knowing an internal review and freeze was coming and not wasted a candidate’s time and effort. I would say thank goodness I’ve dodged a massive bullet as I’ve got a much better offer elsewhere but well interview at this company with eyes wide open knowing they have no respect for you.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why tiktok, standard tell me about a time behavioral questions.
I had a very positive experience with the interview process. Communication was clear and timely throughout, and I always knew what to expect at each stage. The interviewers were professional, well-prepared, and genuinely engaged, which made the conversations feel more like a two-way discussion than a formal interrogation.
Each step of the process felt purposeful and well-structured, and I appreciated the transparency around the role, expectations, and team dynamics. I was also given the opportunity to ask questions and received thoughtful, honest answers.
Overall, the process was smooth, respectful of my time, and left me with a strong impression of the company, regardless of the final outcome.
I had a screening interview with the recruiter and then directly with the manager, which I personally didn’t like because I felt as he was making me a favour to be there
Hr called me, asked me a few questions, intro, why you leave your current company, are you actively looking for new opportunities etc. The interview progress is smooth, and pass me to hiring manager round very smoothly.
