Interview
Worst interview experience thus far. I wouldn't even wish it on my worst enemy. The recruiter was clueless as to the interview process. Call felt extremely scripted, clearly she was just asking questions to check boxes. She wasn't able to respond to questions about the role and was extremely slow in updating on the outcome of the interview. The interviewer (hiring manager) was also 20 minutes late to a 45 minutes interview. First question was if I could speak Mandarin and after I said no, everything went downhill from there. He asked 2 questions and wrapped up the call in 10 minutes. My opinion on the culture: - Extremely messy and competitive. I was approached by 3 different recruiters for their roles, and none of them knew that I was already reached out to. After realising that she was the last to reach out, immediately called my mobile and scheduled the next rounds with the hiring manager. This was due to an internal policy where a candidate may only explore 1 role at any given time. - Typical Chinese company culture. While I've heard it does vary depending on the team, the majority of them will still like to interview you in mandarin and reject you immediately if you're unable to do so. This isn't solely based on my personal experience. I've even heard cases where the interviewer just kicks off the interview in mandarin, without any consideration.

- Are you comfortable to take the interview in Mandarin? - What is the most complex case you've handled? - What are some recruiting metrics?
Lots of perspective growth in the company and everyone was really friendly and organized. Every one was great and I like that they send a survey after each interview to be able to provide feedback.
