I applied online. I interviewed at TikTok (Manila, Manila) in Apr 2023
Interview
The interview process starts with 1. HR to check qualifications 2. Lead 3. Head of respective area/country Second and Third interviewer felt like they were just intel gathering since I’m from e-commerce industry as well. The entire interview process is easy and I was as technical as possible in terms of the e-commerce landscape. The set of questions that they have are just them asking for best practices in the industry and recommendations, no valuable insight on their end in terms of how they see you fit, just purely INTEL GATHERING. For interviewees from ecommerce, be very careful since this might only waste your time and get free knowledge from you.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
How can Tiktok compete with Shopee and Lazada? What are some of your strategies in Shopee?
I had a very positive experience with the interview process. Communication was clear and timely throughout, and I always knew what to expect at each stage. The interviewers were professional, well-prepared, and genuinely engaged, which made the conversations feel more like a two-way discussion than a formal interrogation.
Each step of the process felt purposeful and well-structured, and I appreciated the transparency around the role, expectations, and team dynamics. I was also given the opportunity to ask questions and received thoughtful, honest answers.
Overall, the process was smooth, respectful of my time, and left me with a strong impression of the company, regardless of the final outcome.
I had a screening interview with the recruiter and then directly with the manager, which I personally didn’t like because I felt as he was making me a favour to be there
Hr called me, asked me a few questions, intro, why you leave your current company, are you actively looking for new opportunities etc. The interview progress is smooth, and pass me to hiring manager round very smoothly.
