I applied through a recruiter. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Toast Inc
Interview
First I had a call with the recruiter to go through the job position in more detail. This was just a relaxed 30 minute initial screening chat.
After that was a coding test, an hour zoom call with 2 of their engineers working through an exercise in React on HackerRank.
The final stage included several more calls but I signed an NDA at this stage so not sure how much I can disclose.
Overall the process was a lot more enjoyable than at any other company I’ve interviewed for so far! The recruiter checked in before and after each call and made sure I was clear on what to expect for each stage. All of the interviewers were really nice and helped me through if I got stuck, they were happy to see my problem solving process rather than expecting a perfect answer. It felt quite collaborative and everyone I talked to seemed to genuinely enjoy working at Toast.
3 technical rounds of easy/medium LC questions and 1 system design round. Pretty average interview experience for a non-big tech company (expect to write all your own test cases + heavy AI usage from interviewers setting up questions and testing edge cases).
Leetcode style 1 hr technical along with 1 hr behavioral with pretty standard questions. Interviewers were both really nice and hardest part of technical were the follow-up questions but the interviewer was very helpful.
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toast Inc (Dublin, Dublin) in Apr 2026
Interview
I scheduled a first round technical interview. Recruiter emailed 2 days later saying position filled. Very disappointing. Phone screen was good descriptive and helpful. Shoukd of flagged rolling hiring. Was for junior engineer role.
