While lengthy and very thorough, Toggl’s hiring process is designed to truly ensure you’re a fit for the company and vice versa.
My process looked similar to everybody else’s: 1) Online Skills Test 2) 30 to 40-minute Online Assignment 3) Call with Department Lead 4) Test Day 5) Final Call 6) Official Offer
The entire process was extremely organized and a lot more interesting and fun than a standard hiring process. Yes, it requires more of you than a standard “upload your CV and let’s have a little chat” hiring process, but I felt Toggl’s process allowed me to demonstrate my skills more and offered me more opportunities to stand out as a candidate.
In particular, the test day was REALLY cool and helpful, as it allowed me to meet team members and get a feel for the team's “vibe.” They also compensate well for time spent working with them, which is something most companies don’t do before hiring. Communication was great, and they followed up when they said they would, which is also practically unheard of in today's hiring landscape.
I can see how someone might feel hurt and frustrated if they went through the steps of the process and didn’t get hired, as the first two steps alone did require a bit of time and effort. However, I feel like even if I hadn’t received an offer, I would have felt like I at least had the chance to demonstrate my skills to the best of my ability, which means a lot in today’s hiring landscape!
Overall, after coming out of it on the other side, I respect and understand the process, and it was really unique and effective (and honestly…fun!).
