      Seasonal Sales Associate Interview

      Oct 31, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Kamuela, HI
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Tommy Bahama (Kamuela, HI) in Oct 2018

      Interview

Had previously applied and interviewed with both assistant manager and manager over two days. I told them no recent retail experience but did have customer service. Both interviewers were encouraging and said they would call either way. No call. A couple months later applied for seasonal believing this might be what they were looking for. Went through same interview process, same questions and still no follow up. Wondering why do they call and re-interview when not interested? Don’t think I would ever want to work for the Company now. Feel they are not transparent enough, sign of way it would be working there.

      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Tommy Bahama (Orlando, FL) in Oct 2015

      Interview

It was actually really good. I read other peoples responses and reviews on here before going for my interview and it helps. I applied at the Millenia mall website and uploaded my resume. I got a call back within 24 hours of submitting my resume from the store manager saying he reviewed my resume and wanted me to come in for an interview at the store the following week and I did. The interview was really easy. I expected more challenging questions but these were pretty easy. We went upstairs to the 2nd floor to do the interview because he said it would be more quiet then doing the interview inside the store with customers around. So we go upstairs by the time the interview is over he starts talking to me as if I already got the job before he even made me an offer. When he asked if I had any questions I asked him when I can expect to hear back from him on the job and he said he would email me the next day to tell me if I got the job or not. Next day didn't hear back but no worries I figured I would give it more time. Come the day after (Sunday) I get an email saying I got the job. Although it's seasonal he said come January when my position ends if they have an opening for a permanent position and they see my performance went well then I can stay on board permanently. Also it helps to know as much as you can about Tommy Bahama and their brand and their clothing. If you don't like me the only position you qualify for is the cash register. The only people who get to work on the floor folding clothes and helping customers on the floor are people who know the Tommy Bahama brand really well which he told me at the interview. If I learn the tommy bahama brand more then I can get switched to the floor position. Pay is $10 an hour (I am sure varies by location) and you also get $600 worth of free Tommy Bahama clothing that you get to keep and use as your uniform for work. I have to come in and pick out my clothes and fill out the rest of my paperwork this Thursday. After each interview question the guy who interviewed me would go back and say "this is what my response to that question would have been" at least then I get to know if the response I gave was a good or bad one. Lucky for me all my responses were pretty much identical to his.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Why Tommy Bahama? Why do you want to work for us? How do you handle busy situations when the store gets really busy? How would you go about helping out a customer that you see come in the store? How would you help a customer who approaches you and asks for help (especially if it's something you don't know the answer to yourself)?
