During my initial interview, a corporate recruiter conducted a 45-minute phone call. I applied for the position based on my strong qualifications, and the upper limit of the salary range seemed reasonable to me. However, the posted salary range for the job was quite extensive, ranging from $61,215 to $102,025, a $40k difference!
Given my experience, qualifications, and my current salary, I anticipated being offered a compensation package towards the higher end of the range. To my surprise, after an engaging discussion covering my qualifications, the topic of salary arose, and I was informed that the offer would likely be in the range of $65k to $70k. It was suggested that reaching the higher end of the range would take 2-3 years within the company.
This left me feeling misled and questioning the value of the interview. Furthermore, the overall salary seemed notably low for a position in the Seattle apparel industry. This observation might explain the apparent challenge Tommy Bahamas faces in consistently seeking new hires over extended periods, often spanning 2-3 months.
