I applied online. The process took 6 days. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (Richmond, VA) in Jul 2016
Interview
So i finished the application (which was kinda ridiculous with some questions, but that's for later.) and I got a call a few days later. We scheduled an interview and they told me to see them next week!
Fast Forward....
I walked in and I was greeted by who i believe was the general manager, I just happened to catch him while walking in. I was early so I waited a bit, but he pointed me towards where I had to go. I met another applicant and had a nice chat. We waited a moment and he let me know the door was open not too long after.
Me and the other applicants sat into a room and had a toilet paper roll passed around. We were supposed to take off a certain amount. It was then revealed that, depending on how much pieces you took off, you had to describe something about yourself for each one.
We then grabbed a toy that we could relate ourselves too, and discussed about ourselves what we had in common in with it. These were more personality exercises.
There was a tour around the store and about what we would be doing if we worked there, we got to see the back room and all that the employees do there.
Afterwards there were some individual interviews. My interview was quite simple. Depending on how you answer some of the questions on the application, it triggers some certain questions that they should ask you. Usually to talk about the weak points about why you disagreed with something (choosing Strongly disagree, Disagree, or Neutral on the application on certain subjects is an example.)
I took the opportunity to ask some questions relating to the work. Here are my are some of the answers. You can pretty much guess what the questions were from these.
You get 2 shirts when you work there.
You can input your hours and work around it. It doesn't have to be a strict schedule.
There is no travel required for training, it is done in store. (Shadowing, hands on teaching, etc.)
Lastly, they offered me the job.
It was a pleasant experience and everyone was real sweet. I hope other Toys R Us experiences are this pleasant.

I applied in-person. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us in Jul 2023
Interview
The job interview was incredibly easy and simple, with clear questions and a relaxed atmosphere that made me feel confident, comfortable, and grateful for such a smooth, stress free experience overall.
