      Seasonal Associate Interview

      Dec 19, 2017
      Anonymous employee
      Mobile, AL
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Easy interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (Mobile, AL) in Nov 2013

      Interview

Prior to the interview process, applicants are phone screened and whittled down to a group of about 20. The first part of the interview is a group interview of sorts consisting of group activities such as role-playing customer and sales associate and selling various store products to one another in front of the group of applicants and hiring team, coming up with and presenting commercial-like sales pitches involving various products in front of the group of applicants and hiring team, and team-building activities e.g. applicants are divided into teams and asked to build something from a set of Legos given to them while their individual behaviors are observed by the hiring team. This concludes the first part of the interview process. Following the group interview session the applicant group is divided in halves and separated into two rooms. One group is told they will be contacted via email by the end of the day regarding their status (they will receive an email informing them they have not been selected), while the other group is told they have passed the first part of the interview and are asked wait outside a room to be called in and interviewed in a more traditional manner, in which applicants are asked a few typical interview questions. Applicants who answer the questions satisfactorily are offered jobs on the spot while others are told they will be contacted via email regarding their status (they will receive an email informing them they have not been selected).
