I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Toys "R" Us (Murrieta, CA) in Oct 2012
Interview
Applied online, got a called in for a group interview about a week later. There were a dozen of us, we had to introduce ourselves with a bit about what our hobbies are. Then we were split into two groups and had to make up a toy to sell. Next we were each given a product to sell. After that, 8 of us were taken out of the room and told that was the end of the interview and that we would get a call if chosen. Received a "we regret to inform you..." email a few days later.
I noticed not real difference between those taken out and those who stayed, nothing really stood out to say which group had the chance.
Team interview, relatively simple and pretty fun. Was followed by a quick in person interview. After season a handful were offered full time positions while others were told thank you.

Make a new toy with these LEGO’s and try to sell it
Smooth and very friendly. You can say that it was a fun interview, at first with the human resources manager and the second was with the store manager also. They were both really friendly and it felt like having a normal conversation. I loved working for TRU
