This feedback is surprising, both in its content and in its method of delivery. Out of hundreds of candidates that have taken this exercise, it's the only time someone has described it as sloppily written. Several people have helped review and edit the instructions. We have taken great care to update any sections that have been reported to cause confusion in the past. The exercise has specific requirements spelled out but it is expected and encouraged that candidates reach out and ask clarification questions if they have any. Part of our job as engineers is to help create new ways for our customers to solve their challenges. As such, the answers are not always clear and it's our job to help disambiguate requests by diving deeper through clarifying questions. We do expect candidates to demonstrate this. Finally, if candidates disagree with our assessment and feedback, we have always been open to hearing their arguments.
