I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Trader Joe's in Jun 2020
Interview
It was a fairly quick process. I waited for a job alert and applied as soon possible. They sent me an email the next day asking to schedule an interview. I met with two ‘mates’ or managers in the back room and it was overall pretty informal. They asked a lot about leadership (what are the characteristics in good leaders, bad leaders, what kind of leader I am). They also asked about sense of humor a couple times. They’re looking for people with fun personality and someone people oriented.
The interview lasted about 30 minutes. They told me they’d take about 4-6 days to let me know if I qualified for a second interview. Luckily before I left the store I was able to do it right then and there. I met with their ‘captain’, assuming the general manager, and he asked relatively the same questions and talked more about scheduling and hours. He told me he’d give me a call the next day to let me the decision after he talked it over with the other two mates.
Overall, pretty relaxed, informal, and around 30 - 40 min for each interview.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
What characteristics do you look for in good leaders.
Super easy just be yourself and know the products and you will pass with flying colors. Make sure you are available to work weekends, they usually prefer people to close which can be annoying.
two interviews one with mate then one on another day with the captain - basically the same questions at both and the typical questions you would expect strengths/weaknesses, what makes you a good employee, what makes you like an employer
It was quick and seamless and they let me know in ample time. It was a painless process and the crew was quick to give honest opinions about working there. The Captain changed but at the time turnover wasn't high.
