Interview
Had a wonderful interview with two of the mates for the position who then immediately set me up for a third interview with the captain. On the day of the third interview, the captain arrived ~15 minutes late because he had to get Starbucks so I floated around the store awkwardly until he arrived. He took us outside for an interview in mid-50 degree weather, was robotic in his responses, and emphasized that he would call back by Monday the following week. The call came in on Thursday after a follow-up call to the store on Wednesday, and declined to elaborate on things that I could improve or why I was declined.
Applied online and had one in person interview with the captain. It lasted maybe 10 minutes. Got a call a week or so later that I got the job. Very fast process.
It's two to three interviews, the final with the Captain (or highest manager) of the store. The interviews are largely to get to know your personality and how well you would do at customer service.
The interview process was absolutely wonderful! I didn't feel stressed or nervous and it felt like I was just chatting with a friend! Trader Joes is a great company and the interview was great.
