Got an email to schedule an interview. Follow up email requested to be there around 15 min early. I showed up early as requested and spoke with the hiring manager (who was the only person in the building). Interview was ordinary. What made this a negative experience is that after being told that the interview process would be ongoing for the next 48 hr and then decisions would be made, I receive an email in the middle of the night less than 12 hr later stating I would not be getting the job because I "did not meet the qualifications". I feel that my time and money were wasted on a formality when there seems to have been no intention, even before the interview, to hire me. This could have been communicated before scheduling, or even during the interview itself. Feels very unprofessional, especially after being told in the interview that they liked my answers to the questions and that I seemed to have a good amount of relative experience, but somehow fall short of the qualifications that were seeking. Along with not even being made to understand the qualifications in the first place.
