Interview
First step was to have a phone interview. The in-house recruiter "Jill" was very personable and professional. She made the phone interview experience very easy and comfortable. We actually talked for quite a bit of time about the job and my experience. I attribute come of my successful acquisition of the position to her process and professionalism. I've had some other phone interviews that were rather unpleasant and painful.
after successfully completing the phone interview i was selected to move on to take the computer test. i was told that if i pass the test, i may be asked to stick around for an interview with some managers. so show up prepared to possibly interview. unfortunately/fortunately for me another candidate passed and was asked to stay for an interview and i was asked to return on another date. which was fine with me since i was very tired at the time. i was also informed that later this year they will be revising the the format, which may be a good thing.
im an excellent test taker and this test is not even remotely as difficult as some employment testing ive experienced. the only downside is that its timed and you really need to move quickly. i live far from the testing site and had to wake up really early to get there on time. so i was rather tired during the test. the first test, reading comprehension (usually very easy for me) was tough for me to concentrate on and i was unable to finish the test on time. i think i made it 75% of the way through. i thought i was not going to pass for sure. which didnt help for the many tests after that one. there's one section where you have to compose a letter in response to an upset customer. another section where they give you a map with a lot of houses on it and you have follow multiple directions to get from one house to another. some of the tests have some confusing questions that you need to focus on to get correct. but you also have to manage your time so you can finish. and if you finish early, always go back and review. i found some that i initially marked wrong and then was able to change the answer. but this all could be changing soon and may not be valid for much longer.
after finding out (whew!) i passed the test i was schedule to come back for an in-person interview with a manager. on that day, i met with a unit manager. he was very personable and friendly and made the interview so smooth and easy. it felt like i was just chatting with a buddy. we talked about my prior work and personal experiences that would be applicable to the position as well as telling me about what the job would be like and what would be involved. we talked for about 30-45 minutes. he then had me chat on the phone (privately) with an adjuster already doing the job so i could ask him any questions about the job that i had. this person i spoke with was very friendly and helpful to answering my questions. we chatted for about 20 minutes or so. after the phone call i then had an interview with the VP of claims and the manager of HR. both were very pleasant and asked similar questions that the first manager asked. it was a great experience overall. my biggest concern was if they did the popular/common interview process where they give you a bunch of scenarios and ask you how you would handle them or ask you to give an experience from your past where you had to xxxxx etc... that type of interviewing really puts you on the spot and to me it doesnt really seem like it accomplishes much. to me, the right way to do it is to ask the person why they would be a good fit for this position. and that's what i experienced here.
immediately after the interview, on the way home, they were already calling me to offer me the position. i was surprised to hear from them so soon and was excited to accept the offer. from there, i had to do a drug screening and background check. the background check includes: credit check, driving record, criminal history, education, and employment verification. depending on your personal experience this may be very easy for you but for mine it was a bit nerve racking and involved. it ended up taking several weeks for them to complete the check and at the end i had one thing that was stalling things a little. the HR rep doing my background investigation called me on the phone to ask me questions about it. he took notes and forwarded them to a committee that would decide if they would approve me or not. that was a nerve racking wait but i felt fairly confident i would do ok. he called me a few days later to let me know that they gave me the green light and welcomed me aboard. so that is where i am currently at. i start next week and am very much looking forward to it.

Interview
First there is an assessment. After successfully completing the assessment, I received a follow-up email saying the I was moved to the next part of the interview process. I then had to schedule a time with a recruiter for an phone interview, which apparently went well because I received another email from a recruiter for an interview date and time. The interview was a very lengthy process. I sat down with a supervisor and manager, and they asked a series of behavior based interview questions. After that part of the interview, I did a peer interview with an adjuster that works for travelers. Following this further, asked more questions about me and informed me about the position.
