I was interviewed via phone 4 separate times over the span of a week and a half. The first 3 phone calls were an hour each and the last was about 30 minuets. Each time I spoke with a different individual that the position would be interacting with. After clearing those hurdles I was finally called in for the in person interview. This consisted of 4 and a half hours of speaking with individuals that the position would interact with, many of which were the same people I had spoken to via phone. At the end of this never ending interview the hiring manager produced a spreadsheet that contained over 16 projects he wanted completed in FY18. He then proceeded to go over each one while I looked on in amazement. By the end of this ordeal I was happy to get out of that building. Later I was told via the recruiter I was working with that they had chosen to pass on me. When asked why the hiring manager had told him that for the price we were asking ( the median market rate for an experienced analyst in Nashville) that he expects the candidate to possess all the skills they require. The main point of concern was that I was unfamiliar with their current ERP system. Never mind that their ERP system is only used for petroleum based companies. So, I was rejected after spending 4 and a half hours on the phone, another 4 and a half hours in person for not possessing a skill that I was up front about not possessing. My recruiter asked the hiring manager if he thought he was being realistic. I hope that whoever is hired there is prepared for the likely nonsense that will follow. I honestly feel as if I dodged a bullet by not getting the job.
