I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TruGreen (East Detroit, MI) in May 2011
Interview
You go through 2 interviews. Basically explaining how to handle situations with customers and being on your own. it wasn't a difficult or hard interview to go through. Once you get to a second interview you are hired in to the company. Money seems to be the main focus in getting hired and where you're needed.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at TruGreen (Springboro, OH) in Feb 2011
Interview
It started with an online assessment that seemed to test for basic reading/math/locating skills, followed by an online ethics assessment. From there I was called for an interview with the service manager, who oversees lawn technicians. During this interview, I was asked about my customer service skills, and some probing questions to assess the depth of my knowledge of lawncare and landscaping(not a pre-requisite). The next step in the interview process is a second interview a few days later with the general manager for the branch. This interview is more of the same questions from the first interview, and highly sales-focused. An offer will be given at the end of the second interview for $12.00/hour pending drug test and background check(the background check doesn't have to be especially clean apparently).
I understand that this process has changed a bit this year; if you have a pulse, they'll hire you at Springboro OH location. They do not require a high school diploma or clean criminal record.
