      Front Desk Position Interview

      Feb 10, 2017
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Twitch (San Francisco, CA) in Jan 2016

      Interview

Recruiter and hiring manager were really nice. Few emails, standard phone call to discuss salary expectations, and I was interviewing within 1-2 weeks. They also make a really senior HR person interview everyone even if you won't be working with them. I was a little bit overqualified but had good reasons for wanting the role. I also had a really direct reference from one of the hiring manager's personal friends, who I worked with. I don't think I was a 10/10, more like a 7-8/10, but what has compelled me to write this review is that one of the interviewers, who was going to be my peer and was a coordinator in the Office/Facilities team at the time (don't know if he is still there), was truly beyond rude. He was dismissive of me right away, you could tell that he had a horse in the race and wasn't going to give me the time of day, and was checking his phone every minute and counting down the time we still had in our slot, as if it was so excruciating for him. He was truly terrible. Tech companies have varying levels of acceptance when it comes to basic professionalism and decorum, so I won't call him unprofessional (even though he was), but it was beyond that. He was just rude. A rude, dismissive guy. I am certain he was the main reason I wasn't hired. I honestly should have told the recruiter I wasn't interested after the interview, but I was feeling pretty good about it and everyone was pretty nice except him. There's nothing the HR team or the company as a whole can do about situations like this, but I'm in a much better position now and am pretty glad they didn't take me.
