      Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Twitch (New York, NY) in Nov 2020

      Interview

Had a recruiter reach out via LinkedIn. Spoke with her, next chatted with the hiring manager, and finally had a several hour long virtual onsite with some of the members of the team. I was told they would come to a decision quickly especially with the holiday season and that I could expect to hear back before Thanksgiving break. My biggest issue with this whole process was the complete lack of communication from the recruiting team. Emailed the recruiter and recruiting coordinator who were supposed to update me before Thanksgiving break. No response. After the break, I followed up still no response. At this point, I had a job offer from another company but Twitch was still my top choice. Followed up with the recruiter who initially reached out and finally the hiring manager the next day when I didn't hear back. The hiring manager mentioned other candidates had similar issues and assured me the recruiter would be in contact shortly. Finally, the recruiter who reached out to me initially responded and asked to get on a call. On the call, she shared the team enjoyed meeting me, however they went with another candidate. However, one of the people I interviewed with wanted to consider me for another role. I communicated that while I was interested I already had an offer and was wondering if the process could be expedited as I didn't want to keep them waiting. I was told while unlikely she'd meet with the manager the next day and let me know. There was no follow-up, emailed her, and as of right now nearly a week later still no response. Oh, and the recruiter who was supposed to walk me through the initial process responded about three weeks later telling me I didn't get the position I originally interviewed for. I don't know if they actually read these, but this is not how you treat potential candidates. A job isn't promised, but if a candidate dedicates several hours out of their day to interview with you you should at least have the decency to follow up with them and give some transparency into where the team is in the process.
