      Instructional Specialist Interview

      Mar 9, 2026
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at UC Santa Barbara in Feb 2026

      Interview

GHOSTED! Very disappointed to have been ghosted by the PACE department after an interview, especially one in which you have to share your work. I could tell that they were only half-interested (as they likely had somebody internal in mind for the role) which was apparent throughout the interview. Questions were easy, the usual instructional designer ones, but I found it strange that they were also focused on experience with budgets, when this was for a very junior role. The interview questions on handling budgets did not align with the pay, or the job description, so that stuck out as unusual. Ultimately, I was overqualified for the position, and realize I am past the point in my career of spending 5 days in an office, so was only mildly interested, but it would have been professional to have some follow up.
