I first interviewed with the HR person who hires RNs. It was in person at the HR department and she asked me basic personality and motivations questions. She asked me what type of unit I wanted to work in even though I had no acute-care experience. I said Med-Surg because I was afraid I would not be accepted into critical care but now I regret that because other people with no experience got into ICU. Next I interviewed with the Unit Manager and peer RNs of the unit I eventually was hired at. They asked me more nursing skills type questions and also what I would do in certain situations. Upon hire, you are under a three-month period where they are allowed to fire you easily. I ended up working for this company for one year, quit because of the "office politics" and favoritism.
