      Front End Developer Interview

      Aug 28, 2023
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Ubiquiti in Aug 2023

      Interview

Got an email from HR saying that I was selected to move forward and that I was going to get a test of my knowledge of coding. The "test" is what I could only describe as a 25-30+ hr project that you are expected to do in a week, in your free time for free. The difficulty of the interview didn't come from any advance coding or feature demands but the time commitment required. You also don't speak to any humans during the process which never bodes well. It also was damning that the other reviews here mentioned getting ghosted after completing the project.

      Question 1

Create a full fledged application that fetches from an API, filters, sorts, and searches from a list of products.

      Application

I interviewed at Ubiquiti (New York, NY)

      Interview

The process starts with a phone screen, followed by a brief online technical interview. After that, you'll be assigned a task with no strict time limit—typically around one to two weeks to complete. Once submitted, your work will be evaluated

      Question 1

I received a Figma design and an API endpoint for a task. The goal is to fetch data using the provided URL and populate the UI with searchable items. Additionally, the UI should be toggleable between list view and grid view.

      Interview

Very unprofessional, they have you do a call with the team and then send you a coding challenge where you have to make a whole web application that took me a week working full time. During this process they're super communicative but after a week or so after I submitted it they ghosted me. Totally understand if the work wasn't up to standard and they sent a rejection email soon after but it felt disrespectful to ghost someone instead of just telling them especially after making them put in so much time.
