      Sales Associate Interview

      Anonymous employee
      New York, NY
      Accepted offer
      Neutral experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Uniqlo (New York, NY) in Apr 2015

      Interview

I applied online and within a week, they emailed me for an Interview at their 5th ave location. When I got there, there were about 20 of us in the break room and they lead us down to the basement in the next building. We had to go down a few flights of stairs and came to this small room with a few tables and chairs. We had to sit in the front as they conducted interviews in the back. They told us that we had to be free to close two weeknights and we must be available on the weekends or else don't bother continuing the interview process. Coming to this interview, I read a lot of reviews/interviews on glassdoor and I wasn't as excited because I read a lot of employees complaining about the strict management and working conditions, but I still wanted to work here and I decided to deal with it when or if I get the job. They handed us applications to fill and one by one we got called to do an interview in the back. Everyone can hear your answers because it's a small room. There were two people conducting the interview. One person from HR, the other I'm not so sure as she didn't introduce herself. The interview was pretty basic. Just read up on the questions posted on here. Such questions were: "Tell me what you know about Uniqlo" "Why do you like Uniqlo?" "What was one difficult thing you had to overcome?" "What is one of your weaknesses?" "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" "What is good customer service?" My interviewer was a bit distracted because she had to tell the people in the front to quiet down a few times. But she did take notes as I speak. After my interview, I went back to my seat and waited for everyone else to be interviewed then they lead us out. They told us they would email us within a day or two. Two days later, I got an email for a second and final interview with a store manager. A week later, I went to the breakroom again. This time there were four of us. She lead us to a small meeting room inside Uniqlo; we didn't go to the building next door this time. She asked us about 5 questions and we all took turns answering; "Why did you come back to Uniqlo for this interview?" "What is one product that you noticed that we're currently promoting?" "What is one other brand besides Uniqlo where you noticed really good customer service?" "Can you show me how you would greet customers as they walk in?" And she asked us questions about our resume. I wasn't expecting any of those questions but I still gave her pretty good answers. Two hours later, I got an email with an offer and to take a drug test within 2 days. Good luck on your interviews! Don't be too nervous and just be friendly and smile often.

      Application

I interviewed at Uniqlo (Bristol, England)

      Interview

The interview took place in a hotel conference room with many other candidates. Asked us 2 super simple questions and to work in teams. Afterwards, some candidates got an interview with the HR department. They were asking each one of us the same question ( there are 2 more people with me). Overall, it wasn't the worst interview; they do not take their time to actually get to know you as a person and do not want to give you an opportunity to work part-time, because you might decide to leave to pursue your career in a year or two which I don't think is fair.
