      Flight Attendant Interview

      Mar 24, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      San Francisco, CA
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at United Airlines (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2016

      Interview

The interview process is really fast. I applied Feb. 29th and received an email the next day that my application was being forwarded to Inflight Recruiting Services. Then I received an email March 2nd for an invitation to do a video interview and that I had 5 days to complete it. I completed it the next day on March 3rd. Read all the questions on this site and have answers prepared. Dress like a flight attendant, wear your hair back, practice a lot especially if you've never done a video interview before. It's a different experience because you're looking at yourself, but it's best to look straight into the camera like you're speaking to an actual person. Do all the practice interview questions. They give you 30 seconds to think about your answer to the question and 2 minutes to respond. There's a total of 5 questions. It took about 15 minutes. Don't wait till the last day to do the video interview. I received an email on March 7th for a invitation to a face to face interview and gave me a bunch of dates to choose from. They paid for my flight on March 9th in SF and the interview was March 10th. Show up early! I was the second one there and we were about 45 minutes early. So important to dress the part. They definitely look at you to see if you look the part. Smile, socialize with the other people interviewing. Say hello and be cordial to everyone you come across in the building. I was on my way to the restroom and said hello to a lady walking towards me and asked her for directions to the restroom and it turns out she was the recruiter interviewing me! You are placed in a room with everyone and they give a small presentation on the company and ask if anyone has questions. Then they call you one by one into another room where you have your interview with one recruiter it looks like a room with a bunch of cubicles. Seriously every question on this site helped so much! Study study study your answers, be confident, smile a lot, be personable. They ask S.T.A.R format interview questions and behavioral (role-playing) questions. Study your answers and you'll be fine. After that interview, she asked if I had any questions then started walking me back to the elevator to leave, but right when we reached the elevator she turned to another room and said she was going to push me through to the next interview! :D Then I waited in a small room with a couple of others who passed the first interview. I was then called first for the second interview, they asked me a few more questions about how I felt about relocating, flying to different places all the time, why United, and why I wanted to be a flight attendant. There were 2 recruiters at this interview. After that, they offered me a conditional job offer!! I filled out some paperwork and then I was on my way home. I start training in Houston April 6th!!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Tell me about a time where you experienced conflict with a guest. Tell us about yourself. Why did you decide to become a flight attendant? What are your career goals? Why are you leaving your current position? Why United Airlines? Tell me about a time when you experienced conflict with a co-worker. Tell me a time where you experienced a difficult situation with a guest and how did you resolve it. The role-playing part included reading an announcement where you had to tell passengers to put away their electronics and cell phone devices and the recruiter pretended she was an unruly passenger who didn't want to listen. Then you have to pretend to be the flight attendant and resolve the situation.

First, you have to apply it and submit your application on United website when the flight attendant opposition is opening. Then, you will get an assessment, kinda like a personality test. Second, you will be invited to a virtual interview. basically, you need to answer 8 questions and record your answers. You have 3 attempts to record it.
