I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Newark, NJ) in Jun 2016
Interview
After submitting my online application I received an email asking me to take a video interview. The video interview consisted of six questions that were designed to gauge your level of customer service. You are given 30 seconds to prepare for each question and up to 3 minutes to answer each one. Although I thought I did poorly, two days later I received an email telling me I passed and inviting me to a face to face interview. I interviewed at Newark airport. The face-to-face interview lasted most of the day. As a group we watched a video about United Airlines and had a question and answer session about the flight attendant position. After this we were called out of the room one by one in order to do our face to face interview with a recruiter. This interview was also heavily based on behavioral type questions meant to see how you perform with customer service related issues. If you pass this portion of the interview you will be invited to talk to another recruiter regarding more technical issues related to the job. Some people may have to wait up to a week to get an acceptance/denial while some people may be offered the job on the spot. Overall I felt that the process was very well organized and extremely positive. The recruiters are some of the friendliest people you will meet. They want you to succeed. However this does not mean that anybody and everybody will be offered a job. You have to prove to them that you deserve the job and that you also want it. I highly recommend that you learn as much about the company as possible and practice as many behavioral and customer service type questions and scenarios as possible in order to improve your chances of success. Good luck!
5 Step process, several stages of vetting. Application, assessment, pre-recorded interview, live virtual interview, in person interview. Hardest was in person interview. Practice STAR format. They check to make sure you pass the tattoo requirements several times throughout. Also valid passport as well as background check and DOT drug test.
