I applied online through their website and got an email for the web interview pretty quickly (a week or so). It gives you a few days to respond but I did it the same day to get it over with. A few tips for the video: SMILE, dress professionally (at least the half that will be shown), and be yourself. I thought it was easier because you have some time to think about your answers - and they ask standard questions. A few days later I got another email asking for a face to face interview. I accepted and they flew me out to San Francisco for the Interview. I got to the terminal at about 8:00 am and met a few other candidates on the way. The best thing to do is be friendly and talk to them. They are not competition, they're potential roommates. Caught the shuttle to the building where the interview was held and met the other candidates. You are placed in a room with everyone, like I had said be friendly and pleasant. Everyone is just as nervous as you are. Make sure you dress the part, dont overdo your make up, and make sure your hair is kept neatly. Also, don't be overly confident - those people didn't seem to make it. They show a video about United and go over information about the job and company. They then call candidates in at a time and hold a one on one interview in a room with other people with one on one interviews. Don't let the other interviews distract you. Focus on the questions they ask (again pretty basic) and do your best. If you have customer service experience then it will be easy to answer. The interviewer will ask you to role play a situation (anything from angry customer on a delayed flight to customers who won't put their laptop away) - just be friendly but firm and remind them that their safety is your first priority. After that I was put into another room with the candidates that passed. Decompress and talk with them while you wait. At this point they recruiting team is calling candidates one by one. They call you into a final interview with two people and they ask you more questions - like are you willing to relocate, what are some challenges you expect from this job, technical questions like if you have tattoos or what not. They ask you to step outside for a moment and call you back in. This is when the offered my the position. You are then walked into another room to sign papers and given more information about classes and what not. You are then sent on your way to do a drug test and wait for your flight home.
5 Step process, several stages of vetting. Application, assessment, pre-recorded interview, live virtual interview, in person interview. Hardest was in person interview. Practice STAR format. They check to make sure you pass the tattoo requirements several times throughout. Also valid passport as well as background check and DOT drug test.
