I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at United Airlines (Newark, NJ) in Jun 2016
Interview
I applied online. After 3 days I was invited to do a video Interview via HireVue. I got about 3 to 5 days to complete the interview. In the email they specify everything, from the lightning, how you're supposed to be dressed and what to expect. When you decide to do the video interview you log in to your application using your reference number end then you watch a short video explaining what you're about to do. In the video they say that they're not looking for perfect interviews, but for content, so don't freak out. Once you get to the hirevue website they give you the option to do a few practice questions so you can understand how the software/website works. (you can decide to see yourself on the webcam or turn it off) and you have 30 seconds to read the question and come up with an answer. After you answer each question you can't go back. If you finish a question before the time they give you with is like 3 minutes you can click on the next button so it doesn't continue recording. You answer like 5 questions and thats all. 2 days after i received an email inviting me to face to face interview, in a week i went to Newark. Face to face was so much better. I went into the airport and they gave the group a brief presentation of what to expect about the job, salaries and all information you could need. They asked if we had questions and then they started the interview process. they called me first. My interview was very smooth it was more like a conversation with a friend. The recruiters were very nice. The recruiter reviewed my resume and asked some questions about it.
Then she started asking questions such as WHY DO YOU FIT FOR THIS JOB, WHAT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE, MENTION A TIME A CUSTOMER WAS UPSET WHAT DID YOU DO,
WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT. Then she made me read an announcement about safety in the aircraft and then explain what i just read as if i was talking to a customer and the customer was upset. Then she walked with me to another room and told me to wait. After that i met with other lady that explained in details what i was getting into. She asked if I agree with everything and I said yes. Then they told me to go to another room and meet with human resources. That was like a little interview just so they could know me in person and ask some questions and clarify things about resume. Then they offered the position and told me to go to a clinic they have in the airport to get drug tested, hearing test, vision test and everything. After all that Im waiting for the company to give me a date to start training. It is 6 weeks. Don't be nervous, recruiting team is very nice and welcoming. Be confident but not arrogant. Always smile and try to make everything look positive even when is not that good. Don't let anyone tell you what you have to answer. Be yourself and follow their service principles. Research a lot. You want to be prepared to to answer or even talk about the company or other topics that may come up. Enjoy the process and good luck.
