      Flight Attendant Interview

      Sep 16, 2016
      Anonymous employee
      Accepted offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at United Airlines in Sep 2016

      Interview

I first applied via the Careers section on the United website. This took no time at all, as long as you already have your resume and cover letter prepared. I highly recommend taking the time to write a detailed cover letter and submitting it along with your resume. A cover letter should not include the same information that is on your resume. Rather, your cover letter should include personal, interesting, and attention-grabbing information about you and what sets you apart from other candidates. Once I submitted my initial application, it took about one week until I received a follow-up email asking me to complete an online video interview. It stated that I had 5 days to complete this video interview, otherwise I would have to wait 6 months to re-apply for the position. I would advise to take a few days and research United, and really understand their brand. I recommend researching the positions as much as possible in order to prepare for how to answer the interview questions. The style interview is based on behavioral questions whereby your answers reflect how you would handle a given situation. Research the "S.T.A.R." interview method and prepare yourself for answering the questions according to this style. On the day of my video interview, I wore a blouse underneath a black blazer with my makeup done and my hair pulled back in a low bun. I also wore a pair of pretty earrings. I had a hard time finding a place to conduct the interview that had sufficient lighting. I ended up doing it in my bathroom of all places! I draped a tan blanket over my shower and sat in a chair facing the mirror where my tablet was set up. Make sure you are looking straight at the camera lens and not just the screen! Take a deep breath and put on some lipstick. Also, don't forget to have your nails painted. When the interview begins, you will watch a brief video explaining how to use the HireVue website. It is very simple. You are given 30 seconds to prepare for each question. You have up to 3 minutes to answer each question, and I found that to be plenty of time. Just do your research and write out your answers, and you will be fine! I submitted my video interview on Mon 9/12 and I am anxiously awaiting a follow-up.
