      Flight Attendant Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at United Airlines (Orlando, FL) in Sep 2016

      Interview

Submitted an application online through the Careers section on the United.com website on 9/1/16. I received an email confirmation the next day in the AM and 4 hours after that I received an invitation to do a video interview. You are given 5 days to complete the interview and they ask 5 typical questions. You have 3 minutes to answer each question and also have time to practice before doing so, you can try as many times as you like and typically 1-3 of the practice questions are in the actual interview. The whole process is relatively easy. I completed the video interview 2 days after I received the invitation. Even though the video interview is "easy", it is a struggle to talk to your computer and camera, and keep eye contact with the camera lens. I just received my rejection email 2 weeks after, this past Monday. Even though I studied the questions and had some decent answers, video interviews are not my style and I am sure it showed during it. Doing the video interview is a great way to get a first impression of you and not have to invest a huge expense to fly you somewhere for your initial interview. I am more partial to the telephone style or video conference type interviews which is why I personally struggled with the video interview- it is basically a video audition. With that being said, the whole process was decent and great practice. United is established and organized with the whole process which is nice. I also do appreciate receiving correspondence during the whole process, especially the rejection letter, even though rejection is not fun, it also nice to have concrete evidence instead of being left wondering for the rest of eternity. Few Pointers: - Dress Nice for Video Interview (look the part of a FA) - Smile (100% of the time) - Pay attention to all the questions on Glassdoor, they are exactly what they ask you - Maintain eye contact with the camera lens on your computer or tablet - If they like you, they will respond in the first few days. - If you make it past the video interview, you are invited for a Face 2 Face + Group interview at one of their hubs. Being selected for the process is challenging since they receive thousands of applications a day and have to weed through them all. They say it easier to get into Harvard than it is to receive a conditional job offer and an invitation to FA training.
