      Flight Attendant Interview

      Nov 29, 2012
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Houston, TX
      No offer
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Oct 2012

      Interview

Walked into a room of about 100 people. You sign in and get a name tag, then proceed to socialize with the people around you to appear social and outgoing. Then they called in what seems like the language speakers in for interview first. There is no guarentee on this job being a language speaker, fyi. There were very few current airline employees. Tons of teachers, nurses, people from all backgrounds. I made it through 2 of 3 rounds. Both female interviewersm 1 on 1. The first appeared to like me, the second immediately didnt. Round two was my challenging round, to try and change this persons perspective and it was my demise... There are three rounds in the process. Round 1, they start with asking you to read the 2nd paragraph of an announcement, if you read the entire thing, rejected. They ask about 5 basic questions regarding the job and if it is scenario based, they want you to provide the scenario and the solution fairly quickly. Takes 10 minutes or so. If you make it to round 2 they give you a slip of paper to be discreet and return at a certain time. If you are rejected, they tell you they will email you. Round 2: more scenario questions but much more aggressively delivered. Which is where I couldnt deliver the exact answer they were looking for. I believe they are looking for mostly men, unattached that will have no problem leaving their current home and moving to give up their lives for being on call for many many years. They take this group and give offers to only about 3-5 people. From discussing with others who were rejected, it seems like their most difficult questions were those that seemed like an judgement was made of them and then they were attacked on the issue (ie looked financially sold, or had a family or home that made them appear unflexible). So with those issues, they were grilled on for example, that a FA makes little money, go in detail, on and on and on about how little money and how much time the job takes, and then corner you on that issue. Saying you are prepared, or aware, or can budget are not solid enough answers. Good luck everyone!

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Are you aware you will be on Reserve for 10 years plus? After answering that I am comfortable, prepared and have experienced this in my current company. They asked me if I currently hold a Line or RSV line, I said line? Then asked if I liked reserve so much, why dont I bid a reserve line? And continued on and on about how no one likes reserve, they hate it.... very aggressively until one is cornered.

      Interview

the face to face live video interview with a HR personnel. I collected all possible questions from reddit to glassdoor and formulate my answers and thought they're going to ask the same questions but they didn't. The HR kind of tell that I have a ready made answers so she stirred the interview differently so my answer will be organic. Thankfully I passed this 30 minute interview. The interviewer did not look interested because she is multi-tasking but best believe she is listening to your answers.

Its a multi-step interview process. First a resume submission and a questionnaire, then a pre-recorded interview with a few questions. I was asked this during the pre-recorded interview. Waiting for my live virtual interview!

      Interview

I’m heading to the F2F interview in TX. Every step so far has not been difficult for me. I also have no prior knowledge in being a FA. The hardest part so far is probably just the nerves and anxiety. Just prep well, do some research, have some basic questions and answer prepared so that even if they ask a different question you can possibly use one of the scenarios of another question and tailor it to the new one.
