      Flight Attendant Interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at United Airlines (Houston, TX) in Mar 2013

      Interview

Most of the interview reviews on this website are very accurate. I arrived at the Training Center 20 minutes before the seminar began. I walked into the room where everyone was being seated. You sign in, grab a name tag, and take a seat with a sheet of paper giving more information on the position, salary, and what to expect on a normal Flight Attendant work schedule. The Seminar starts promptly at 9:00 AM. There was close to about 100 people interviewing that day. They start off with a quick video about the company. After the video they start slowly calling names out one by one into another room in the building with cubicles. While you wait to have your name called, a current United Employee is upfront answering any questions you might have. I was finally called up for my interview, the man who interviewed me was very pleasant. I was nervous at first but once you start talking to them it felt like a normal conversation. They first asked me to read out loud an announcement that was taped down to the interview table. After that they ask you ordinary interview questions like 'Why do you want to be a Flight Attendant', 'Tell me of a time when you found it difficult to work with someone at your workplace'. The final interview question was actually a statement they wanted me to finish, 'I find it difficult to _____'. I knew I completely bombed that last part because it caught me off guard, but I kept it together. At the end of the interview, they discretely gave me a piece of paper asking me to return later that day for a 2nd Interview. They do say not to tell anyone about the 2nd interview. When I returned back to the Training Center for my 2nd Interview, it was close to 1:00 PM. I went back into the same room where everything began. After scanning the room, majority of the 100 candidates had been eliminated. It was down to about 25 of us sitting in the room. The 2nd Interview process is identical to the 1st. I was called up by a different interviewer, who was also very nice. During this interview there were a greater amount of customer service questions, several questions. I want to say maybe about 10 questions. Most of them were related to my current job, and how I handled situations. That interview lasted about 15-20 minutes. At the end of the interview the man asked me to get up and walked me over to a hallway. He quietly said he really enjoyed our interview and thought I would be a great Flight Attendant. He then told me he wanted me to meet with his boss for a final interview. I didn't hesitate one bit and said 'Of Course!'. He then walked me over to a different room that I had not been to yet. Before he opened the door, he told me he has no doubts why I would not be picked for the position. I was asked to be calm and have fun with it, and be myself. I finally entered an extremely small room (closet sized), and there were 5 of us remaining out of 100. It was still a one on one interview. When I was called in for my last interview, I met with 2 people. One of them was the Flight Attendant who was answering questions earlier that morning, the other person was the Hiring Manager I guess. This interview was very straight-forward. They simply asked if I knew what to expect from being a Flight Attendant and if I was okay with the hours and being away from home, working on Holidays, and having to relocate. I was perfectly fine with all of those things, told them I had plenty of experience being away from home and having to work holidays. The last questions was simply, 'What does it mean to be a Flight Attendant'. I gave my answer and maybe three seconds passed, they looked at each other and one of them simply gave me thanks for interviewing and that I would hear back from United within a week about their decision. I was left very confused because I felt like they didn't really give me an opportunity to shine for them like all the other interviewers. This last interview literately lasted maybe 4 minutes max compared to the 15-20 minute long interviews. In the end, I had a good time interviewing. I met interesting people from different places in the US. They do encourage you to reapply again if you do not get the job. I love United as a company and I would love to work for them someday, I definitely will return next year.

      Interview

the face to face live video interview with a HR personnel. I collected all possible questions from reddit to glassdoor and formulate my answers and thought they're going to ask the same questions but they didn't. The HR kind of tell that I have a ready made answers so she stirred the interview differently so my answer will be organic. Thankfully I passed this 30 minute interview. The interviewer did not look interested because she is multi-tasking but best believe she is listening to your answers.
