Well, United did it to me again.
I had interviewed with this company back in January for a role as a mobile developer. The experience I had then was less than stellar, and the employees were as stiff as wood on the phone.
Months later, I would interview with United for a role as an Android developer at their 609 Main location in Downtown Houston, on site. I would sit in a room with three 20-something developers with no personality and their IT manager who was only there to give the introduction. I wasn't given the courtesy of being declined either directly, or through the staffing agency.
About a month ago I was contacted by a different staffing agency about a role as an iOS developer. Having done 2 years of it with Dell, I figured it might be worth a try with United. Either United or the staffing agency didn't connect the dots, and told me - AFTER driving 15 miles to the interview site - that it had been CANCELLED. I stood in the lobby for 15 minutes to be told this, only to be told to call their director of IT and be given the bad news directly. He faked an apology on the phone and that was that.
The "cultural" shifts in the I.T. industry in recent years have clearly had an effect on many larger companies. I have now had three conversations with United and it doesn't get any better with each successive discussion.
