I prepared for several day for the interview, doing a comprehensive background review about the scientific personnel of the organization, its recent activities, etc. USELESS. The interview took 12 minutes in which I described by broad career goals, after which the interviewer offered a different internship than the one I had applied for, suggesting that it better suits my interests. There was no assessment of my skills/knowledge; only of my interests. I would have liked a longer interview in which to discuss more substantive matters. I assume that the selection process is mostly based on the CV submitted. I also assume that my significant research experience as an undergraduate, in conjunction with my out-of-the-box opinions about the larger goals of the organization were what really got me the position. FInally, I assume that too much knowledge is not expected from the interns - just passion, diligence, and a broad background understanding about the field.
