      Operations Analyst Interview

      Sep 14, 2022
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      Phoenix, AZ
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Upgrade (Phoenix, AZ) in Sep 2022

      Interview

Quite a negative experience, one of the worst interviews I’ve been through to date. Requires an in-person interview deep downtown which for most in the valley, is quite out of the way for us and is asking a lot for a basic interview. I suggest switching this to zoom and saving the tour for new hires. Gas is too expensive to gamble on appearances for unfamiliar companies. Checking in requires your photo taken and an agreement not to share any info you might learn while visiting, don’t know why. It made me feel generally untrustworthy which is not how you should greet guests or interviewees. Guests must wear masks, which was not stated in the initial interview instructions, but everyone else in the office is carefree and bare-faced. Again, concreting the feeling of being untrustworthy. 2 people were supposed to interview me and only one showed up. My lone interviewer was 15 minutes late, and the interview was only scheduled for half hour total. Stated they were in another building across the street (okay?). The interview was painfully unprofessional. Interviewer clock-watched the entire time and displayed body language that showed he was bored and didn’t want to be involved. Very uncomfortable. The reading I got off from my experience visiting Upgrade is that this company is not a good fit for careerist who considers themselves a professional, high-performer. This was for sure a more social experience for those who prefer networking only type of environments. Not for me.
