      Interview

If you are applying for a position at Uptake, hopefully you have 4-6 months to dedicate to the process. Unfortunately, this was by far the worst recruiting experience I have had in my life. I applied for the position online and heard back from a recruiter about six weeks later about setting up a phone screening. I then went on to both email and call the recruiter every day for about 2 weeks before finally hearing back. We set up a phone screening and he blew off the call. Queue two more weeks of emails and calls to get another screening scheduled. He then said he would like to set me up with the hiring manager. Queue almost another month of daily emailing and calling before getting something scheduled. After the call with the hiring manager, I spent weeks following up to set up the next steps. I finally received a brief and passive email from the recruiter saying they hired an internal referral. Four months spent getting through two rounds of interviews, only to be passively rejected, despite constant positive feedback throughout the process.

Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We never want to hear a candidate has had an unfavorable recruitment experience. Our slowness to respond is often simply the result of the volume of candidates we're working with. There are occasionally other circumstances at play, such as refining what a role looks like internally, which sometimes evolves as we get deeper into the recruitment process. Daily follow-up emails and calls show your eagerness, and we appreciate that, but it's unlikely we could respond to that cadence of follow-up. Where there is strong interest in a candidate, we do our best to move the process along as quickly as possible.
