I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Vanguard (Charlotte, NC) in Jul 2015
Interview
There is a phone screen interview, which is like any other phone screen. If you pass, your are invite for an in-house interview which will be the final interview. This interview is 4-5 hours long. First you'll get a background of the company, who they are, and what they are about. Then you'll go into the real interview process.I interviewed with 2 individuals. They asked behavioral interview questions and expect you to answer STAR-based manner. There were two parts of the first interview- a role play with a pretend client on the phone, and a scenario where you describe to your interviewer how you would handle a particular clients portfolio. You should answer all questions, first being empathetic to the client (apologize if he/she is going through a divorce; congratulate them on getting married or having a child). Then figure out how you would answer the clients questions. Second part of the in-house interview is where you will be asked behavior questions and you do a run-down of your resume and background experience.
After my interview I sent thank you notes to my interviewers. The interview described above (the final interview) was on a Friday. I received a call the next Monday and accepted the offer.
