The first interview is basic phone interview to see if you have basic finance knowledge of the markets, investment types such as what is a mutual fund, ETF, CD, etc. They will ask a couple of STAR based interview questions. The phone interview is very laid back. If you make it past the phone interview they will invite you on campus for a final interview. The interview is broken up into four parts. First, you will come in with other candidates and go through a presentation about Vanguard and its company culture and history. Second, you will go into a 1 on 1 interview where they will ask you about prior experience again using the STAR model or behavioral based questions, this is an hour long interview. Third, you will do a case study to see how you will handle a client, its not as important on whether you give a correct response or not, but much more heavily based up your CRM skills. Keep the client's interest first, show empathy, and just be personable. Be humble when asked about your performance on the case study. Finally, the best part of the day is a presentation on Vanguards benefit package. It can take a week or two to receive an offer for the job after the interview is complete.
