I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Vanguard (Charlotte, NC) in Nov 2015
Interview
I applied through my university's job board. I received an email asking about a time for a phone interview. The phone interview was basic interview questions, plus asking about the differences between bonds, stocks, ETFs, etc. Don't worry too much about these, just know how to explain them generally. After the phone interview, they flew me out to Charlotte for the face-to-face. It was 4 hours long. The first hour was just information about the company. The second hour was the normal STAR interview questions. The third hour was a role-play situation. You can't prepare for this, just read over everything carefully and think logically. Make sure you show empathy towards the client. The last hour was a test just to see your financial knowledge (doesn't impact whether you get hired or not), just to see how much they would need to train you.
Interview was good, Interviewer provided alot of information containing to the job description and the benefits. They provided STAR example questions to get a better understanding of who I was and what I can possibly offer to the environment
I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Vanguard (Charlotte, NC) in Aug 2021
Interview
The interview was a two step process, the phone screen was about 15 mins and they were mainly looking for clarity of your voice and if you are articulate. The virtual 1-on-1 interview was fairly easy, about 6 STAR-based questions regarding customer service, communication skills, and learning agility.
