      Front Desk Agent Interview

      Mar 17, 2019
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      San Francisco, CA
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Viceroy (San Francisco, CA)

      Interview

GHOSTING candidates is a sure sign of a thoughtless and unprofessional company and work environment. Interviewed with HOTEL ZELOS in SAN FRANCISCO. Although I have never worked in a hotel, I have over 20 years of customer service and hospitality experience. At the beginning of the interview, I advised that I was genuinely focused on a career change at this time, and I could do this job based on my transferrable skills. However, the interview quickly turned extremely basic, stiff, and impersonal with your typical basic cliched questions. Tell me about a time you had to work in a team? (like in uh.. every single job I’ve ever had?) Tell me about your last job. Tell me about the one before that. OK, Interview over. They did not even speak to me about the actual job. I wanted to speak of my skills, my passion, why my experience led me there. But they seemed super uninterested. I even tried to speak about my personality, my skills and why I’d be good at this job, and the upper-level management interviewer's response was “Ok”. Yep Interview over. This was one of the worst interviews ever with rude and patronizing management who scoffed and laughed at my question when I asked of the probability of hiring someone without direct hotel experience. “Well you’re here aren’t you?” I was so excited about this interview and was met with a complete lack of interest. Superficial, Judgmental, Rude. I did not even get a response from them even after a follow-up email. Completely GHOSTED. It appears they think GHOSTING candidates gives them more prestige. It doesn’t. it’s just a red flag as to how one will be treated as an employee.
