      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Victoria's Secret (Roanoke, VA) in Jun 2026

      Interview

The interview process was at first ok with the recruiter. I tried to answer all of the recruiters questions throughly and I felt the recruiter when I tried to answer one question decided to cut me off in the middle of my answer and said OK !!! That moment was a turning point for me. I was thinking if the recruiter cant let you express yourself and answer to the best of your ability then this is giving me a little experice of what the culture is if I worked for them. The recruiter said that she would reach out to the DIstrict Manager and set the virtual interview up which was fast. I attend the Virtual Interview with the DIstrict Manager. It was good until it wasn't. I got to talk about my experience and answer the questions that she asked me. Here is where the interview went BAD...The District Manager asked me about concversion rates with my previous employer. I answered honestly and said that the conversion rates were calculated via head count and a mathmatical formula is counted per day in between department to calculate conversion rate. The District Manager eyes get big as marbles and then proceeds to say that her store Love PInk has an automated counter uh... who cares and what does this have to do with what I just said. Then proceeds to grill me about conversion rates I would like to add as I answered her questions she rudely and snidely laughed and said lets just get off the topic. I agreed, at this point I realized that I didn't want to work for her cause who would want to work for someone like this. The Distict Manager proceeds to ask me about how long I want to work for the company stating that she had been with the company for over 20 years and I calmly honestly stated between two - five years because I want to open my own business and her response was we were looking for individuals who want to work for us at least 20 years. I would like to add here why would anyone want to work for a company for 20 years especially when the company is constantly downsizing and has not done well monetary business wise for 15 of the 20 years especially this district manager has worked through her entire career without experinceing burnout, layoffs and other things that I'm sure would happen if I were that dedicated to honor her that amount of time to work for her, Fuuny things is the District Manager never went into detail about important issues like for example, how she grows her employees and moves them up within the company to different job roles or why she weighs conversion rate against every other metric since she didn't go into detail about the sales metrics. I think she seemed mad that I had dreams and goals for myself that halfway through the interview I realized would not include working for her. Their was a long pause at the end of of the interview and I was absolutely appalled by her behavior and even though she was talking I exited the virtual meeting with her talking still to herself on camerea. I don't need to be bullied or disrespected by any employer. Today the same recruiter that set the meeting up called and told me that I didn't get the job. A nice rejection letter email would have been fitting, I emailed the recruiter back letting her know after careful consideration and poor leadership experience dynamics I did not want to work for them. What would help future candidates in the future is just ask and make known on the application do you the canidiate want to spend 20 years as a store manager with no growth potential as business has not been good until recently then this job is ithe right for you! Glad I didnt get the job I hope other have a better experience this experience was unprofessional and a waste of time.
