While all the stages are relatively straightforward, my experience with the recruiters left much to be desired. It seemed as if they were disinterested in their roles, with delayed responses to my emails, frequent interview rescheduling, and a lack of knowledge regarding the next steps in the process. Moreover, there was a notable absence of feedback throughout the entire process. Another aspect that particularly disappointed me was the case study stage. The role I applied for required proficiency in business German and English (I applied for a position in Germany, English is the primary language used at Visa). All the stages were conducted in English and all the communication with the recruiters was also in English. The case study I received was also in English. Naturally, I prepared for the case study accordingly. During the presentation, the interviewers informed me that they would ask me a couple of questions in German at the end which I was happy to answer. However, to my surprise, one of the interviewers interrupted me with a question in German in the middle of my presentation. I answered the question, completed the presentation, and then I was asked a few additional questions about my background and motivation in English. Strangely, they never conducted any further assessments in German, which was puzzling given the language requirement and their willingness to check my German in the beginning. After a week of anticipation, I received a call from an interviewer who informed me that they were suddenly looking to hire a native speaker for the position (the job description clearly stated business proficiency in German which I have). Also, I am not sure if the interviewers who can barely speak any English should be in a position to judge someone else language skills. This news was disheartening, but I still had a strong desire to pursue a career at Visa. The recruiter suggested that she could potentially talk to interviewers since it was just the fact that I am not a native speaker, and potentially ask them to recommend me for the same position in a different country. I agreed, as I was very eager to explore this opportunity. However, just a few days later, I received another call informing me that the interviewers had concluded that I was not a suitable fit for the position, without providing any specific reasons, and therefore would not recommend me.
